The Kielder Observatory is a magical and unique visitor attraction under the finest dark skies in England and is one of the most remarkable places to visit in the whole of the UK. It’s a public astronomical observatory which is second to none, under some of the darkest skies in the world.

Visiting the observatory is where the adventure really begins. After a drive through some of the most spectacular countryside in the whole of the UK, you arrive at the driveway leading up to this amazing building. A visit here is truly magical, the drive up along the forest roads within Kielder, which plays host to over 50% of the entire red squirrel population in the UK alone, will leave you breathless with excitement. Wherever you come from, we know you’ll be taken aback by the wondrous countryside, and above all, the amazing dark skies.

This prize can be created according to your budget, but we do suggest an accompanying stay at Singdean, a beautiful off-grid accommodation nestled in the hills with its back to the world. It's a very special place to stay - a remote secret gem, 350m above sea level, in the beautiful landscape of the Cheviot Hills in the Scottish Borders, close to Northumberland. Accommodation consists of a cosy warm hideaway with a big heart. This place is a friendly and informal get away with integrity. After a day out in the forest you'll return home to a wood-fired hot tub and sauna, carefully prepared by the owners for their guests. What more can we say!
